Job Description:
Communicates/presents key Clinical Pharmacology information/strategy to senior and executive management, regulatory agencies, and external peers. Supports strategic planning for drug development activities and projects. Utilizes scientific expertise to interpret data and relate implications to management. Serves as liaison to other departments/divisions for study/project needs. May lead teams within Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics.

Responsibilities:
- Lead Clinical Pharmacology/PK/PD activities and multiple major projects; assist R&D senior management in selecting action plans.
- Identify issues, perform risk assessments, and help develop contingency plans to maintain alignment with strategic objectives.
- Provide overall timelines for portfolio opportunities; negotiate project outcomes and deliverables across functions (time, cost, quality/performance).
- Provide scientific and strategic consultation to R&D and Regulatory on critical decisions and development plans.
- Evaluate technical/scientific aspects of AbbVie projects with Clinical Pharmacology management; review protocols/reports for regulatory filings; lead regulatory documents writing, submission, and responses to agency comments.
- Conduct due diligence assessments; represent Clinical Pharmacology on business development teams.
- Identify/develop process improvement initiatives and review recommendations with management for sponsorship/approval.
- Contribute to departmental goals and influence strategic PK/PD decisions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of PK/PD analysis, modeling, and simulation methods/software.
- May manage personnel (development, mentoring, delegation).

Qualifications:
- PhD with 7+ years, or PharmD with 9+ years; MS with 15+ years; BS with 17+ years (relevant field includes PK, PBPK, PK-PD, Pharmacometrics, systems pharmacology, drug metabolism/transporters).
- Excellent interpersonal skills; knowledge/experience across multiple therapeutic/functional areas.
- Experience across a range of development phases; knowledge of AbbVie/pharma drug development processes.
- Demonstrated leadership in PK/PD, biopharmaceutics, and pharmacometrics (planning through completion across multiple projects).
- Scientific project leadership; project management (scope, progress tracking/driving, time management).
- Key leadership competencies: understands business needs, persistent/resilient, respectful/courageous, connects concepts/creative ideas, influences cross-functional alignment, communicates openly, manages conflict constructively.
