Job Description
- Communicate/present key Clinical Pharmacology information/strategy to senior/executive management, regulatory agencies, and external peers.
- Support strategic planning for drug development activities/projects to achieve departmental strategies, goals, and objectives.
- Interpret data using scientific expertise and relate implications to management.
- Serve as liaison to other departments/divisions for study/project needs.
- Lead teams within Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics and ensure effective team performance.

Responsibilities
- Lead Clinical Pharmacology/PK/PD activities and multiple major projects; support R&D leadership in selecting action plans.
- Identify issues and resolve them; conduct risk assessments; develop contingency plans; maintain alignment with strategic objectives.
- Provide overall timelines for portfolio opportunities; negotiate outcomes/deliverables across functions to balance time, cost, and quality/performance.
- Provide scientific/strategic consultation to R&D, Regulatory, and management on critical decisions and development plans.
- Evaluate technical/scientific aspects of AbbVie projects with Clinical Pharmacology management; review protocols/reports for regulatory filings; lead regulatory document writing, submissions, and responses.
- Conduct due diligence assessments; summarize results; represent Clinical Pharmacology on business development teams.
- Develop process improvement initiatives and sponsor approved recommendations; contribute to departmental goals and influence strategic PK/PD decisions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of PK/PD analysis, modeling, and simulation methods/software.
- May manage personnel (development, mentoring, delegation).

Qualifications
- PhD (typically 7+ years) or PharmD (typically 9+ years) in a relevant field; or MS (typically 15+ years); or BS (typically 17+ years). Relevant field includes PK, PBPK, PK-PD, Pharmacometrics/systems pharmacology, drug metabolism/transporters.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; knowledge/experience across multiple therapeutic/functional areas and development phases.
- Knowledge of AbbVie/pharma drug development processes.
- Demonstrated leadership in PK/PD, biopharmaceutics, and pharmacometrics (planning through completion) across multiple projects.
- Scientific project leadership and project management (scope, progress tracking/driving, time management).
- Leadership competencies: business/cross-functional understanding, resilience, courageous respect, original idea generation, cross-functional influence, transparent communication, constructive conflict management.
