Director, Business Development – Commercial Evaluation
Responsibilities
- Lead commercial analyses and evaluation; prepare written/oral summaries and presentations of uncovered information related to new product acquisitions or mergers to senior management.
- Continuously scout, monitor, and evaluate competing companies and news that might affect the business case.
- Analyze market trends, industry dynamics, and competitive landscapes to identify market and growth opportunities.
- Lead and conduct strategic, market, and competitive analyses of business development opportunities.
- Lead primary and secondary market research for business development.
- Mentor and manage members of your team and the BD team as needed.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Market Access, Sales, Research, Clinical, Finance, and Legal.
- Establish external and internal networks to support market intelligence and identify business transformation opportunities for growth.
- Attend external partnering and life science conferences and meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years’ experience, OR Master’s degree (ideally MBA) with 4+ years’ experience, OR PhD with 2+ years’ experience.
- Degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Neurology, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of business experience, preferably in Pharma/Biotech (BD and/or commercial strategy).
- Experience in life sciences, medical, or health care industry.
- In-depth competitive intelligence (CI) experience.
- Strong knowledge of disease areas (Respiratory, Inflammation, Immunology, CNS/rare), drug development activities, and commercial processes.
- In-depth understanding of commercial forecasting, market access, pricing, launch requirements, and use of epidemiology data.
- Advanced business/commercial acumen including commercial forecasting and modeling.
- Experience collaborating in a matrixed team environment with internal/external partners.
- Ability to partner with internal commercial SMEs to develop and evolve due diligence findings to drive decision-making.
- Experience presenting recommendations and influencing internal/external groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Work Location / Travel
- Fully remote role.
- Occasional domestic travel (~10–20%).
