Role Summary

Director, Business Development to help expand opportunities for patients with serious diseases. The role focuses on the Search & Evaluation aspect of diligence, supporting and leading the technical evaluation and presentation of BD opportunities to governance bodies. Reports to the VP, Head of Business Development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the evaluation of scientific and data-driven analyses and prepare written/oral summaries and presentations of information related to new product acquisitions or mergers.
  • Proactively identify and evaluate external growth opportunities for inbound partnering or acquisition in Neurology, CNS, and Rare Diseases therapeutic areas.
  • Continuously scout, monitor, and evaluate new technologies that may be of strategic interest to Insmed.
  • Build internal and external networks to proactively identify and assess new technologies and programs in CNS/Neurology/Rare Diseases.
  • Participate, as needed, in evaluating early venture-like opportunities.
  • Support and conduct strategic, market, and competitive analyses of BD opportunities, including acquisitions, divestitures, alliances, and strategic investments.
  • Maintain databases of opportunities and historical records of previous evaluations.
  • Establish external and internal networks to support market intelligence and identification of relevant business transformation opportunities for growth.
  • Attend external partnering and scientific conferences and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Masterโ€™s degree with 5+ yearsโ€™ experience or PhD with 2+ yearsโ€™ experience in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, or Neurology, plus 2+ years of CNS/Neurology experience.
  • 2+ years of business experience, preferably in Pharma/Biotech (BD and/or R&D groups).
  • Exceptional knowledge of disease areas, drug development activities, and commercial processes.
  • Strong understanding of product development and regulatory requirements for early, mid, and late-stage assets, with ability to provide scientific support and communicate findings.
  • Enhanced scientific acumen, understanding of R&D/clinical data, and project management skills.
  • Experience performing scientific evaluation and diligence in support of M&A and licensing activities.
  • Basic understanding of financial analyses and willingness to learn advanced modeling.
  • Experience working in a matrixed team environment with ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.
  • Experience presenting recommendations and influencing internal and external groups.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Education

  • Degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, or Neurology (as part of required qualifications).

Additional Requirements

  • Remote work eligibility with occasional travel for team meetings or events; travel approximately 10-20%.
