Director, Business Applications (Lexington)
Key Result Areas (major Duties, Accountabilities And Responsibilities)
- Manages the Applications Team (Application Engineers & Specialists) and on average 1 large business application implementation.
- Oversees Application Management structure to ensure best value; balances internal resources, business key users, communities, and vendor support.
- Leads configuration, change, quality/automated testing, release management, and operational support for strategic business applications (e.g., ERP, Electronic Lab Notebook, Contract Lifecycle Systems, QMS, DMS, LMS, RIMS, eTMF, CTMS, CRM, MedComs, PromoMats, etc.).
- Vendor management: oversee service timeliness and quality; ensures business continuity.
- IT compliance/regulatory support; provides artifacts/evidence for audits.
- Defines and provides handover training and procedures/work instructions for IT Support Engineers.
- Intakes/onboards essential business applications and vendors; orchestrates application service processes.
- Manages 2nd/3rd level support and escalations to external support.
- Leads platform/application activities (planned maintenance, communications, installations) and proposes improved IT documentation/process descriptions.
- Collaborates with Implementation Manager and IT Business Analysts to ensure proper handover from implementation to ongoing support.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
- 12+ years in business systems/application management; 5+ years in large-scale business application implementations.
- Experience managing diverse computer systems/integrations and leading teams.
- Proven ability to make teams more efficient and value-driven.
- International organization experience.
- Large business applications background (CRM/ERP/HCM); project management skills.
- Experience with SoX and/or GxP compliant systems.
- Ideally pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience.
