Director, Biostatistics (Virology)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide statistical leadership for Virology clinical trials: develop trial design options and decision support.
- Serve as statistical lead for a Virology molecule/indication in Health Authority interactions; maintain an accountability thread to TA head.
- Collaborate with Statistical Programming, Clinical Research, Clinical Data Management, Global Drug Safety, Regulatory, and Project Management to meet statistical analysis/reporting deliverables and timelines.
- Apply regulatory statistical principles to achieve regulatory, scientific, and business objectives.
- Collaborate to present and publish trial results and statistical analyses (internal/external).
- Negotiate project timelines; support long-term staffing plans and staff career development; participate in strategic risk assessment.
- Oversee and contribute to technical/operational statistical activities for multiple development programs using internal/external resources.
- Provide departmental strategic leadership; supervise personnel.
Basic Qualifications
- PhD with 8+ years industry experience; OR Masters with 10+ years; OR Bachelors with 12+ years.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
- Hands-on drug development experience (trial design and phase 1–3 analysis; NDA/BLA label negotiation).
- Biomedical statistical analysis experience (SAS and R preferred).
- Strong written/verbal communication; cross-functional collaboration.
- Holistic challenge analysis; proactive problem-solving.
- Ability to lead high-performing teams; strategic/innovative mindset.

Compensation/Benefits (as stated)
- Salary range: Bay Area $226,185–$292,710; Other US $205,615–$266,090. May include discretionary bonus/stock incentives, paid time off; benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
