Role: Director leading the biochemistry team within Early Discovery at a global pharmaceutical company, focusing on pharmacology and drug discovery. Responsibilities: manage biochemists, mass spectroscopists, and pharmacologists; oversee biochemical assay strategy, including assay design, target validation, hit identification, and mechanism-of-action studies; implement High-Throughput Mass Spectrometry workflows; collaborate across disciplines such as screening, medicinal chemistry, structural biology, and computational sciences; establish assay quality standards and data workflows aligned with FAIR principles; drive innovation through technology development and external partnerships; contribute to leadership, strategy, and talent development; promote scientific visibility and ensure compliance with GxP and safety standards. Qualifications: Ph.D., M.Sc., or B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related field with 10+ years of industry experience; expertise in biochemical assay development, enzyme kinetics, and structure-activity relationships; hands-on experience with fluorescence, luminescence, mass spectrometry, and assay automation; familiarity with drug modalities such as targeted protein degradation and covalent inhibitors; proven track record in advancing early drug discovery programs. Preferred: Protein biochemistry/biophysical techniques expertise, mass spectrometry-based screening experience, external collaboration management, innovative technology implementation. High-value specifics include early discovery, biochemical assays, high-throughput workflows, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Work setup involves domestic travel (~10%) and is based in a senior leadership capacity.
