The Director of Benefits is a key leader within the Total Rewards team, reporting to the Senior Director of Total Rewards. This role oversees global and U.S. benefit programs, ensuring strategic alignment, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across health, wellness, welfare, and retirement plans. It collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, drives innovation through industry benchmarking, and leads a high-performing team focused on delivering impactful and cost-effective benefit solutions.
Essential Functions:
- Program Management & Oversight - Manage all U.S. benefits activities, including health, wellness, welfare, and defined contribution plans. This includes overseeing vendors and ensuring program financials and policies support the needs of U.S.-based colleagues. This role also drives effective communication of benefit strategies and serves as the primary contact for brokers and plan vendors.
- Strategic Leadership & Vision - Provides strategic leadership and ensure operational excellence in overseeing US benefits. Proactively identify industry and regional trends and prepare business cases for benefit reviews and renewals. Serve as a champion for innovation in the benefits and wellness space, continuously seek ways to integrate best-in-class practices into the organizationโs processes.
- Financial Oversight & Reporting - Establish and monitor benefit-related budgets and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on benefit costs and trends. In addition, they analyze administrative costs and pricing of benefit programs and recommend cost containment strategies, including exploring alternative methods of administration.
- Regulatory Compliance & Governance - Ensures all benefit programs comply with location-specific regulatory and legislative requirements, including strict adherence to provisions of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and other applicable laws. Coordinate the preparation and submission of filings to federal and state agencies, including the IRS and DOL.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including payroll, finance, legal, compliance, facilities, communications, IT, and other HR colleagues. Strong collaboration to drive alignment of benefits strategy with broader organizational goals.
- Team Leadership & Development - Coach, mentor, and supervise team members, motivating them to take accountability and pride in their work. Through empowering leadership and encouragement, foster a high-performance team culture focused on results and innovation.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Serves as the main point of contact with 401(k) plan record keeper and auditors in support of annual processes including but not limited to non-discrimination testing, plan audits, 5500 preparation & filing, and Summary Annual Report distribution. Oversees creations and distribution of Total Reward Statements and related communications.
Education:
- Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) Human Resources or related field - Required
Experience:
- 10 years or more progressive experience in benefits administration - Required
- 5 years or more experience managing a team of benefits professionals - Required
Skills:
Specialized Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to employee benefits, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other relevant laws.
- Comprehensive understanding of health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and other ancillary benefits.
- Expertise in designing, implementing, and managing 401(k) plans.
- Developing and managing comprehensive wellness programs, including health screenings, fitness challenges, mental health initiatives, and employee assistance programs.
- Knowledge of HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and benefits administration platforms.
Licenses:
The salary for this position ranges from $190,000-$220,000 per year. In addition, Amneal offers a short-term incentive opportunity, such as a bonus or performance-based award. Amneal ranges reflect the Companyโs good faith estimate of what Amneal reasonably believes that it will pay for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors, including but not limited to, qualifications, experience, geographic location and other relevant skills.
