Director, Automation

Role: Lead global automation strategy and operations within AbbVie's biopharmaceutical manufacturing, focusing on process control systems. Responsibilities: oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of automation systems like DCS, PLC, and SCADA; develop technical training; manage contracts and vendor relations; support audits; drive initiatives for cost reduction, reliability, and error reduction; lead a virtual team of engineers and Site Automation Managers; ensure compliance with data integrity and security standards; and support talent management and performance. Requirements: B.S. in Engineering; 15+ years in automation engineering, including large-scale global initiatives; 5+ years leading technical teams; deep knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing systems, regulatory standards, and data integrity. Preferred: experience with distributed control systems, network security, and biopharma operational best practices.
