Director AI Innovation & Partnerships builds and directs a portfolio of cross-functional AI use cases across discovery through clinical development, regulatory/QA, CMC, Commercial, and Corporate functions. Translates scientific and business needs into technical capabilities and automated solutions. Develops and manages strategic external AI-focused partnerships.
Responsibilities:
- Explore, identify, and prioritize AI/data initiative opportunities across the company
- Develop and implement AI objectives, operating model, governance, and success metrics for deploying/managing AI and automated tools
- Lead AI and automation projects from ideation through execution; drive internal adoption and maturation in collaboration with IT
- Align stakeholders across Research, IT, Regulatory/QA, CMC, Clinical, Commercial, and Corporate
- Translate biomedical, product, and business questions into addressable computational/AI approaches
- Analyze/monitor technical and market trends to drive productivity, collaboration, and business growth
- Cultivate and maintain an external innovation network; identify, evaluate, and onboard collaborators
- Support alliance management, cross-functional coordination, and/or special initiatives
- Represent the company at AI-related conferences and partnership discussions
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (PhD, MA, MBA, or equivalent) preferred, or significant relevant industry experience and business acumen
- 10+ years in life sciences partnership leadership, digital transformation, program management, and/or strategy consulting with measurable outcomes
Skills/Preferred:
- Strategic and analytical thinking with a track record of identifying and capitalizing on collaborative opportunities
- Design Thinking and innovation skills (strongly preferred)
- Strong project/portfolio management across multiple simultaneous initiatives
- Excellent interpersonal, networking, and communication skills (including with executives and external stakeholders)
- Understanding of the drug development process (discovery through clinical development/regulatory affairs and commercialization)
- Working fluency in AI/ML concepts, data foundations, and delivery patterns (hands-on experience preferred)
- Excellent written/oral communication skills

Compensation and Benefits:
- Wage scale: $215,000–$235,000
