Role Summary

Director, Accounting Systems & Consolidation (Hybrid) - Hands-on consolidations leader responsible for overseeing global close and consolidation, and driving accounting system and financial reporting excellence. Partners with IT and stakeholders to maintain and enhance key accounting systems and applications (e.g., HFM, Oracle EBS, Blackline). Leads a small team to align stakeholders and deliver innovative solutions for consolidation processes and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Drive process excellence for the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close and consolidation process, coordinating with global accounting, tax, treasury, finance and shared services to ensure timely and accurate financial results
  • Develop and execute strategy for consolidation initiatives, such as intercompany automation, cloud-based applications, and RPA bots
  • Partner with IT to maintain and support key accounting systems and applications (HFM, Oracle EBS, Blackline), including change management for upgrades and enhancements
  • Collaborate with global partners to formulate enhancement options to address functional issues/requirements
  • Manage and oversee completeness and accuracy of system eliminations for intercompany balance sheet and income statement activity
  • Develop and monitor metrics and KPIs that drive best practices
  • Assist in the development of the overall Accounting Systems roadmap
  • Lead a team of four professionals; mentor, develop, retain and recruit high-potential talent

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business or related field
  • Typically 10+ years of experience in finance or accounting with a large, complex multinational organization
  • Big 4 experience and life science industry experience preferred
  • CPA or equivalent certifications desirable
  • Track record of success in a team-based environment

Skills

  • Expertise with complex integrated financial reporting systems, including HFM, Hyperion ESSbase and Oracle EBS
  • Knowledge of financial consolidation, intercompany and foreign currency translations, eliminations, monthly/quarterly closes, general ledgers, hierarchies and data structures
  • Governance and finance system compliance per company policies, standards and SOX
  • Strong systems mindset and understanding of accounting workflows
  • Knowledge of financial and US GAAP accounting principles applied to systems and processes
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management to drive collaborative decisions
  • Interpersonal, organizational skills, high energy, strong work ethic
  • Proactive, can-do attitude and ability to anticipate change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across multiple levels
  • Finance process excellence or Six-Sigma experience a plus

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business or related field
