Role Summary

Digital Innovation & Technology Strategy Lead for the Global PK/PD & Pharmacometrics organization. Define and implement a multi-year roadmap for integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation into quantitative pharmacology workflows, positioning PK/PD as an industry leader in AI-enabled drug development while ensuring scientific rigor and regulatory defensibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital strategy for PK/PD & Pharmacometrics, identifying high-impact use cases that accelerate drug development and establish AI-enabled quantitative pharmacology leadership
  • Lead PK/PD's digital strategy as the primary liaison with internal and external partners, managing stakeholder relationships to accelerate value from AI and automation investments
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies for clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics applications, lead proof-of-concept pilots, and scale validated solutions
  • Partner with IT, data science, and data engineering teams to implement AI solutions and establish data governance standards ensuring PK/PD data is AI-ready, accessible, compliant, and coordinated with existing systems
  • Collaborate with project leaders, pharmacometricians, and cross-functional partners to ensure seamless AI integration across R&D and act as the primary voice for AI strategy within PK/PD leadership forums
  • Develop organizational change strategies to drive AI adoption, including training programs, champion networks, and upskilling resources to build AI/ML capability
  • Define success metrics and track value creation for digital initiatives, maintaining a portfolio of use cases with ROI documentation and executive-level communications
  • Establish relationships with external partners and contribute to thought leadership through publications and conference presentations, representing Lilly's vision for responsible AI adoption

Qualifications

  • Required: Advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Required: Minimum 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML/digital technology applications in drug development
  • Required: Knowledge of PK/PD modeling, pharmacometric workflows (e.g., population PK, exposureโ€“response, dose optimization), and model-informed drug development principles
  • Required: Demonstrated track record of successfully implementing digital solutions in a regulated industry environment
  • Preferred: Familiarity with data architecture, cloud computing, and innovative analytics platforms
  • Preferred: Experience crafting compelling cases and executive-level presentations
  • Preferred: Track record of external thought leadership through publications, conference presentations, or industry working groups
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with AI tools (e.g., Python/R/Matlab for ML, TensorFlow/PyTorch, cloud-based ML platforms)
  • Preferred: Track record of successful pilot-to-production digital scaling
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with PK/PD modeling and simulation and model-informed drug development

Additional Requirements

  • Location: Indianapolis, IN or Boston, MA (hybrid work model available)
  • Travel: Domestic and international travel up to 20%
  • Work Environment: Highly collaborative, matrixed organization requiring cross-functional relationships
