Role Summary

The Operational Excellence (OpEx) Co-Op at Bristol Myers Squibb's Devens Cell Therapy Facility offers an exciting opportunity for early-career talent to gain hands-on experience in Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies within a cutting-edge biopharma manufacturing environment. As an integral member of the OpEx team, the Co-Op will support key initiatives aimed at optimizing processes, enhancing visual management, improving metrics automation, and fostering a culture of operational excellence on the manufacturing floor. This is an on-site role based in Devens, MA, designed for an advanced undergraduate or Master's-level student with a strong interest in operational efficiency, data analysis, and process improvement. The Co-Op will work closely with OpEx leaders, area owners, and cross-functional teams to deliver impactful projects and support the facility's commitment to world-class cell therapy production.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Gemba walks, taking detailed observation notes and reporting findings to the OpEx team.
• Assist with Lean and Kaizen event setup, preparation, and execution, including supporting Lean Basics and Practitioner training sessions.
• Collect, analyze, and present operational data to support problem-solving and process improvement initiatives.
• Aid in Tier management activities (e.g., updating boards, maintaining access, providing Solvace SME support, and conducting training).
• Support visual management projects such as labeling, floor tape layout, visual cues, job aids, and 5S activities.
• Maintain and update OpEx SharePoint sites (internal and public) and support Office365 administration as needed.
• Automate metrics and reporting using PowerBI and PowerAutomate tools.
• Deliver lunch-and-learn sessions on COMPASS standards and other OpEx topics.
• Collaborate with OpEx and area owners to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
• Assist the teams in developing AI solutions to streamline business processes

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's (third-year or above) or Master's program in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field.
• Ability to work on-site at the Devens, MA facility for the duration of the co-op assignment.
• Demonstrated interest in Operational Excellence, Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; experience with data collection and analysis.
• Experience with PowerBI, PowerAutomate, or similar data visualization and automation tools preferred.
• Knowledge of SharePoint and Office365 platforms is a plus.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing or operations setting preferred.
