Position Summary
The Data Integration Engineer installs automated back-end data integrations to customer systems (e.g., electronic medical records, billing, data warehouses) to ingest healthcare data into Caris environments. They create, manage, and optimize ETL from internal data systems to support internal analytic dashboards, and lead data discovery/validation projects to deliver accurate data to business users.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead technical requirements gathering and define integration approaches; translate business needs to technical processes and vice versa.
- Assemble large clinical outcome datasets and prepare them for ingestion.
- Contribute to architectural design and development of clinical informatics and BI infrastructure.
- Enable EMR access across platforms via direct database access, FHIR, HL7, APIs, or other methods.
- Gather requirements in an agile manner and build dashboard outputs based on ETL-sourced data.
- Adhere to documented departmental and corporate standards; assist with related duties/special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree (related field).
- 3+ years ETL programming; 3+ years relational database experience.
- HL7 experience.
- Epic Beaker and/or Epic Bridges certification.
- Ability to work independently on application software problems.
- Experience with ETL strategies for multiple data sources (EMRs).
- Ability to assemble/query complex database data and perform in-depth analysis.
- Relational DBs (e.g., Microsoft SQL and/or MySQL).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- IT/security architecture and system life-cycle experience.
- 3+ years ETL in analytics/dashboard environments (healthcare preferred).
- JavaScript; ETL tools (e.g., Mirth Connect, CloverETL).
- Strong leadership, communication, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement orientation.
