Position Summary
The Data Integration Engineer installs back-end, automated data integrations to customer electronic medical records, billing, data warehouses or other customer systems to ingest healthcare data into Caris environments. They create, manage, and optimize ETL from internal systems to support internal analytic dashboards and lead data discovery/validation to deliver accurate data timely.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead technical requirements gathering and define integration approaches; translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Assemble and organize large clinical outcome datasets for ingestion.
- Contribute to architecture/design of clinical informatics and BI infrastructure.
- Establish access to electronic medical records using direct DB access, FHIR, HL7, APIs, or other methods.
- Gather business requirements and build dashboard outputs from ETL-sourced data in an agile setting.
- Adhere to documented departmental/corporate standards; assist with related duties/special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (related field).
- 3+ years ETL programming.
- 3+ years relational database experience.
- HL7 experience.
- Epic Beaker and/or Epic Bridges certification.
- Ability to work independently solving application software problems.
- Experience with external access and ETL strategies across multiple EMR/data source types.
- Ability to assemble/query complex database data and perform in-depth analysis.
- Relational DBs: Microsoft SQL and/or MySQL.
- Proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic business internet use.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced IT/security architecture and system life-cycle knowledge.
- 3+ years ETL in analytic/dashboard environments (healthcare preferred).
- JavaScript scripting.
- ETL tool deployment experience (e.g., Mirth Connect, CloverETL).
- Leadership, communication, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement.
