Dairy Technical Services Field Veterinarian (under general supervision) responsible for:
- Calling on dairy producers, veterinarians, dealers, consultants, and distributor representatives to provide scientific support.
- Providing technical training and education to colleagues.
- Giving sound technical advice on routine inquiries and serving as a resource to support the team.
- Solving animal health and production issues using a sales approach that identifies customer needs.
- Applying veterinary solutions to meet individual customer needs and promote long-term customer relationships.
- Building and maintaining relationships and influence with key industry leaders (veterinarians, nutritionists, extension/university personnel, milk handlers/processors, and other consultants).
- Collaborating with Area Business Manager(s) to develop and execute the Area Operations Plan.
- Developing strategies and customer-focused business development plans for targeted accounts and growth opportunities.
- Planning call cycles to maximize team time/resources and ensuring appropriate account follow-up.
- Delivering educational training using strong presentation skills and tools (e.g., PowerPoint) for internal/external audiences.
- Advising Learning & Development on technical training content; providing specialty support as directed.
- Participating in special projects, documenting activities/customer interactions, and engaging in professional development.
Required Qualifications:
- DVM (or equivalent)
- 2+ years post-doctoral experience in clinical practice, academia, research, or industry
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of veterinary medicine and dairy management
- Strong oral/written/interpersonal communication
- Proficient MS Office; ability to learn internal systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years private practice experience
- Familiarity with herd management software (e.g., DC305, PCDart)
- Veterinary practice management/leadership and strategy execution experience
- Judgment, research/published papers, strategic thinking
- Deep knowledge of cattle products/animal health industry or ability to learn quickly
- Ability to influence senior management/peers
- Multilingual (Spanish/English)
