Role Summary

(CW) Manufacturing Associate (TEMPORARY) at BioMarin. Location and specific duties align with manufacturing processes within Worldwide Research And Development, focusing on biopharmaceutical production support, process knowledge, and collaboration on efficiency and quality improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes including mammalian cell culture, depth filtration, tangential flow filtration, column chromatography, centrifugation, protein purification, and formulation of bulk drug substance.
  • Support process optimization initiatives and identify/elevate processing issues; assist in implementing solutions.
  • Gain experience with automation systems (LIMS, MES, PI, etc.).
  • Provide feedback on operational procedures and assist in incorporating new technologies, practices, and standards into procedures.
  • Write and review process documents as needed.
  • Understand and apply cGMPs related to Commercial Operations; utilize Quality systems (Deviations, CAPAs, Change Requests, Action/Alert Reports, etc.).
  • Participate in projects, contribute to outcomes, and support new business systems (TrackWise, ERP, etc.); assist in trending defined department metrics.

Qualifications

  • Required: None explicitly stated; 2+ years of experience in biotech manufacturing or related regulated industry preferred via an Associate’s or Biotech certificate; Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering nice to have.
  • Preferred: Associate’s degree in science-related area or biotech certificate with 2+ years of experience; strong communication and teamwork capabilities; initiative to identify improvements.

  • Work environment involves strenuous, repetitive tasks and physical movements; regular lifting up to 25 pounds; possible loud equipment; use of personal protective equipment; shift-based and off-hour work; alternating Saturday/Sunday with Tuesday schedule.
