Reporting to the VP Medical Affairs for Asia Pacific, this role sits at the intersection of science, public health, and strategy – shaping how Moderna’s infectious disease portfolio delivers impact across Taiwan. You will translate complex scientific and healthcare system insights into actionable medical strategies, ensuring alignment with national immunization priorities and evolving public health needs. Leading a small team, you will drive scientific leadership, external engagement, and data generation to unlock the full value of Moderna’s vaccines and future innovations – including emerging applications of advanced technologies and AI-enabled insights. Here’s What You’ll Do Lead and oversee the execution of Medical Affairs activities, including KOL engagement and external stakeholder interactions Provide scientific and technical leadership within the market for our COVID-19 vaccine and future vaccination programs Develop and foster relationships with national and state-level stakeholders including healthcare authorities, regulators, public health experts, and scientific associations Engage proactively with immunization technical advisory groups and relevant institutions to advance public health dialogue Translate external and internal insights into actionable local medical strategies aligned with Taiwan’s healthcare system and immunization priorities Drive the development and execution of the Medical Affairs strategy for the Infectious Disease franchise in Taiwan Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and impact of the local medical strategy and its execution Lead data generation strategies and identify innovative research opportunities to strengthen the benefit-risk profile of Moderna’s vaccines Enable generation and dissemination of evidence required by payers, physicians, and patients to understand and value Moderna’s innovations Lead insights generation activities such as advisory boards and expert meetings to inform clinical development and vaccine implementation Synthesize customer insights and ensure effective cross-functional dissemination across Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Marketing, Regulatory, Public Health Policy, and Government Relations Partner closely with regional and global Medical Affairs teams to align and adapt strategies for the local market Collaborate with the local commercial organization to ensure full alignment between medical and brand strategies Provide a clear perspective on how Taiwan’s healthcare system, national immunization plans, and guidelines must evolve to support innovative vaccines Represent Taiwan’s needs and opportunities at regional and global levels Act as a scientific leader and external ambassador for Moderna, enhancing the company’s reputation through engagement with industry associations and key opinion leaders Ensure timely and compliant responses to medical information requests (MIRs) Stay at the forefront of scientific advancements through literature and conferences, acting as a therapeutic area expert internally Work closely with Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs to ensure compliance and due diligence across Moderna’s portfolio Ensure compliance with all corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards Contribute to the development of scientifically accurate marketing materials, medical education programs, symposia, and advisory activities Provide medical review and guidance on promotional materials to ensure alignment with regulatory and scientific standards Lead and influence within a matrix organization, providing guidance across cross-functional teams while managing and developing a small team The key Moderna Mindsets you’ll need to succeed in the role: · “We act with urgency; Action today compounds the lives saved tomorrow.” · “We digitize everywhere possible using the power of code to maximize our impact on patients.” Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications) Expertise in life or health sciences (e.g. MD, Ph.D., PharmD, pharmacist) with a solid medical/technical background and clinical research insight, business and market knowledge. Minimum 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry within Medical Affairs with demonstrated successful track record. Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to build and sustain relationships across internal and external stakeholders. Strong prioritization and decision-making skills, with the ability to understand how Medical Affairs decisions align with broader company strategies. Proven expertise at engaging scientific leaders and other key stakeholders (e.g. health care authorities, payors, medical and scientific organizations), preferably in the field of vaccines. Ability to work independently and effectively lead and collaborate within cross-functional teams in a matrix environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of clinical trial methodology and regulatory requirements. Strong understanding of local regulatory and compliance requirements. Experience supporting vaccine or infectious disease products, including interaction with public health authorities or immunization advisory bodies preferred.
