Role Summary
Cook supporting a small unit kitchen within AbbVie, serving up to 380 guests for lunch. The role involves daily kitchen operations, collaboration with a cross-functional team, and maintaining high standards of sanitation, quality, and guest service.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Chef or designated kitchen lead and management.
- Assist with preparation of food service for Cafe and catering, including breakfast or lunch items and deli prep.
- Support lunch service by serving guests, batch cooking as needed, and maintaining kitchen efficiency during peak hours.
- Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards; use basic kitchen tools and equipment.
- Ensure Health Department safety and sanitation guidelines are followed; maintain sanitation of equipment, utensils, and work area.
- Explain daily menu items to associates and customers; resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner; relay information to supervisor.
- Ensure products are cooked and served according to recipe specifications and safety practices.
- Prepare ingredients and supplies for next dayโรรดs service; adapt to special guest requests.
- Complete all station set-up and breakdown responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chef, Catering lead, or management.
- Working hours are 5:30AM - 2:00PM CST, with occasional weekend shifts.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of culinary experience; Culinary Arts certificate preferred.
- Corporate dining/contract foodservice experience highly desirable; catering experience a plus; high-volume batch cooking experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills; able to follow verbal instructions and recipes.
- Knowledge of food cost, product quality, and accurate kitchen math; self-motivated with strong guest-service track record.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures; comprehend basic kitchen math and unit conversions.
- Knowledge of Foodservice menu systems and GFS ordering system; ability to place orders using GFS.
- Proactive team player with strong organizational skills; able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
- Overtime may be required; flexible schedule; willing to perform other duties.
- Valid Driver's license and good driving record.
