Role Summary

The Senior Specialist, Low Touch Procurement contributes to Procurement Shared Services by providing contracting and sourcing direction across functional areas. The role supports the Low Touch Procurement Lead and aims to execute transactions efficiently while aligning with Category Management Team strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the organization’s approved buying channels and contracting policy for goods and services, guiding requestors to the appropriate buying channel or Supplier Management Team.
  • Collect and support due diligence information required for evaluating and approving new suppliers in line with the Preferred Supplier Networks (PSN).
  • Manage standard Procure-to-Pay intake contract requests within established SLAs with administrative support for purchasing projects and supplier management (contract reviews, bid summaries, vendor record updates, approving Purchase Orders, data analysis).
  • Uphold high ethical standards, in compliance with the law and AbbVie policies and procedures.
  • Support Category Management Team strategy by enforcing the supplier preferred network, understanding initiatives/priorities, possessing subject matter expertise, and educating stakeholders.
  • Develop and negotiate confidentiality agreements, stand-alone contracts, Statements of Work, and other agreements in alignment with category strategies, within approved financial authority.
  • Lead development, deployment, and execution of process-efficiency projects to improve the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process and customer experience.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Procurement processes across all categories within the team.
  • Develop and lead stakeholder educational forums around Procurement initiatives and processes.
  • Mentor junior Procurement professionals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement/negotiations experience in purchasing, preferably in pharmaceuticals.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook; ability to learn additional tools; customer-service experience.
  • Solid experience in vendor negotiations and developing/deploying process efficiencies.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication with team members, stakeholders, management, and suppliers preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload across multiple projects preferred.
  • Ability to develop and grow relationships with stakeholders preferred.
  • Understanding of procurement processes and basic knowledge of indirect products/services used globally preferred.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction preferred.
