Computational Synthetic Chemist

Role: Senior Engineer I, Synthetic Chemistry, supporting computationally enabled synthesis for Ginkgo's drug discovery efforts. Responsibilities: design and execute multi-step syntheses of novel drug-like molecules, utilizing computer-aided synthesis planning, reaction prediction, and automation tools; oversee route selection, purification, characterization, and timely compound delivery; contribute to integrating experimental results into predictive workflows; and mentor junior chemists. Requirements: Ph.D. in synthetic or medicinal chemistry with 3+ years industry experience, demonstrated ability to independently execute multi-step syntheses, proficiency with CASP and reaction data, and hands-on experience with reaction screening and HTE workflows. High-Value: focus on small molecules, drug-like compounds, with an emphasis on practical synthesis, automated experimentation, and data-driven decision-making. Work setup: based in Boston, MA, with an emphasis on collaboration across chemistry, informatics, and automation teams; familiarity with robotic platforms and reaction data management preferred.
