Computational Genomics Research Scientist

Role: Computational Genomics Research Scientist supporting cell and gene therapy development at Vertex. The position focuses on designing and analyzing advanced genomic studies, including bulk and single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and multiomic profiling, to elucidate molecular mechanisms governing therapeutic cell identity, differentiation, and safety. Responsibilities include collaborating with research teams to address scientific questions through genomics, leading innovations in spatial transcriptomics techniques, integrating diverse datasets for biological insights, and developing reproducible, high-quality analytical workflows. The role involves authoring technical reports and evaluating emerging genomics technologies. Requirements include a Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (or equivalent experience), expertise in single-cell and spatial transcriptomics analysis, proficiency in Python or R, and experience with HPC or cloud computing. A strong foundation in molecular and cellular biology, gene editing, and statistics is essential. The position is based in Boston with a hybrid work model (3 days onsite).
