Compliance Business Partner, US Lung Tumor Oncology Business Unit

Role Summary

Based in Gaithersburg, MD, USA, the US Compliance Business Partner for the Lung Tumor portfolio within the US Oncology Business Unit is a strategic advisor and operational leader who collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks in a regulated environment. The role drives AstraZeneca's compliance program while fostering ethics, integrity, inclusion, and diversity and aligns patient-centric and digital priorities with business strategy. Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, US OBU.

Responsibilities

• Provide compliance guidance and strategic input to ensure AstraZeneca’s business activities are executed in accordance with company policies.
• Implement and maintain an effective compliance program by empowering colleagues to tackle critical business challenges.
• Serve as the primary contact for compliance matters within the Lung Tumor portfolio in the US.
• Translate questions and issues into concrete improvements in policies and procedures.
• Embed compliance into business strategy, operations, systems, and decision-making processes.
• Develop and deliver compliance objectives aligned with Global Compliance strategy.
• Support AZ’s risk framework and risk register, including effective mitigation of assigned compliance risks.
• Deliver on “second line of defense” accountabilities spanning all elements of AZ’s Compliance program.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across AZ, including Senior Executive Team functions.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's Degree
• Required: Over 7 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Required: Knowledge of corporate governance, healthcare regulations, laws, and standards
• Required: Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills
• Required: Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills
• Required: Proficient in digital literacy
• Required: Strong collaborative, partnering, and interpersonal skills
• Required: Ability to work independently
• Required: High ethical standards, trustworthy, operating with absolute discretion
• Preferred: MBA, JD, or other advanced degree
• Preferred: Prior experience in compliance, legal, risk management, sales/marketing or regulatory functions at a large pharmaceutical company, or relevant US government agency experience
