Role Summary
The Compensation Analytics Principal Analyst is responsible for compensation surveys, salary benchmarking, and structures for the US Region. The role also develops compensation analytics and digital tools and will support global pay equity analytics. Location: Boston area with hybrid options in Lexington, MA or Cambridge, MA. Occasional travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Compensation Benchmarking Lead for US Region: Primary contact for US market intelligence. Responsible for survey submission, data aggregation and analysis. Provides annual survey benchmarking and salary structures for the US Regular, Premium, MD, Sales, Executive, and Intern structures. Partners with Director Market Insights and US Comp Partners on annual US structure refresh, new salary structure/range builds, and larger projects/initiatives.
- Provides in-depth analysis for use in presentations with respect to market data analysis, data trends, and ad hoc market data analysis/requests
- Participates in spot surveys, salary surveys, data audits, file uploads, as required
- Keeps current and advises HR on US market and industry trends
- Digital Tools, Analytics, and Governance: Builds processes to streamline and transform MarketPay/current excel data loads and audits using digital tools (e.g. using excel macros, dot net tools or other internal digital resources)
- Develops analytics/tools to assist comp team with executive offers and benchmarks and develop process flow automation using new digital applications/AI (Powerautomate)
- Develops/designs innovative compensation analytics in Visier to drive new insights; explores linkages between Visier, Workday and MarketPay
- In partnership with HR Technology and Compensation Operations, evaluates new and existing Workday compensation plans and rules, assessing opportunities to streamline and support job architecture principles
- Pay Equity Support: Supports Takeda's Global Pay Equity program in partnership with the Pay Equity team by performing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and working with R-values (statistical measures)
- Audits pay equity source information, including investigating linkages to Workday compensation plans and rules, and supports/troubleshoots R coding and data cleaning as needed during the pay analytics cycle
- Prepares analytics for presentations of results to HR and business
- External Research and Market Intelligence: Leverages AI to organize existing and incoming external market data intelligence into a comprehensive library
- Responsible for year-over-year country salary budgets vs. competitive trends
- Evaluates annual survey job library updates for major changes to jobs/methodology
Qualifications
- Preferred: University degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience
- Required: Prior compensation survey and benchmarking experience, with experience in MarketPay preferred
- Required: Expert user of Excel; employs data mining techniques to extract valuable insights from large datasets
- Required: Working knowledge of programming languages like VBA, R programming or Python
- Required: Prior experience with data visualizations, analytics, and reporting and/or dashboards in Workday, Visio, PowerBI or similar systems and tools
- Required: Executes complex compensation analyses independently, with strong abilities in problem definition and problem solving, occasionally advising others and making recommendations
- Required: Analyzes and audits data meticulously to inform compensation decisions; maintains high attention to detail in all tasks, advising others on precision
- Required: Designs and delivers compelling analytics for use in presentations; ability to simplify complex datasets and concepts into understandable information
Additional Requirements
- Occasional travel (<10%) to industry/vendor conferences and meetings may be required
- Hybrid to Lexington, MA or Cambridge, MA with at least 5 days in the office per month
