Role Summary

The Community Liaison (CL) for HIV in San Diego leads community-related initiatives to augment Gilead's HIV franchise within targeted markets. The role collaborates with Sales & Marketing to deliver timely, complex clinical information on HIV treatment and prevention to culturally diverse patient populations, allied healthcare providers, and high-level decision-makers. It builds strong partnerships with ASOs/CBOs, FQHCs, STI clinics, addiction/methadone programs, faith-based and ethnic organizations, and community pharmacies to improve access to care. This field-based position requires strong cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and the ability to distill complex clinical concepts for diverse audiences. The CL will drive product growth in underserved markets while earning the respect of community constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on all community-related initiatives and augment regional sales of Gilead's HIV franchise within targeted markets.
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing.
  • Focus on the timely delivery of complex clinical information on HIV treatment and prevention to culturally diverse patient populations, allied healthcare providers, and high-level decision-makers.
  • Establish strong working partnerships with institutions and organizations serving these communities (ASOs/CBOs, FQHCs, STI clinics, Addiction/Methadone Clinics, Faith-Based Organizations, cultural/ethnic organizations, and community pharmacies).
  • Interface with Allied Health Professionals, including social workers, case managers, treatment educators, discharge planners, outreach workers, and others connected to the community.
  • Facilitate linkages from these institutions and professionals to underserved patients to improve access to HIV care and treatment.
  • Apply business acumen and professionalism to gain the respect of community constituents while collaborating with internal and external cross-functional teams to develop strategies and objectives that increase product growth in underserved markets.
  • Establish relationships of trust to uncover customer and patient needs and distill complex clinical concepts to appropriate literacy levels for diverse audiences.
  • This is a field-based position in the San Diego, CA territory.

Qualifications

  • Required: High School + Nine Years' Experience
  • Required: Associate's Degree + Seven Years' Experience
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree + Five Years' Experience
  • Required: Master's Degree + Three Years' Experience
  • Preferred: BA/BS degree, preferably in the sciences, health or allied health field, or business-related disciplines
  • Preferred: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical sales or related healthcare environment, including 3-4 years in the HIV marketplace
  • Preferred: Strong therapeutic knowledge of HIV disease state is desired
  • Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of or prior experience working in or with community-based organizations and patient populations in HIV is desired

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Travel as may be reasonably required, including regular travel within the assigned area
  • Onsite visitation requirements: Satisfaction of any onsite visitation requirements of healthcare practitioners within an assigned area (which may include vaccinations, drug and background screenings, and other applicable requirements)
  • Licenses/Certification: A valid driver's license is required
