Role Summary
Co-op, In Vivo Resource Center at Biogen. This is a 6-month student role from January to June 2026. You will support both external and internal studies, manage projects, and help ensure adherence to regulatory standards for animal welfare within the In Vivo Resource Center (IRC).
Responsibilities
- Gain exposure to animal husbandry practices, including cage changes, enrichment, and health monitoring.
- Learn and apply various in vivo techniques such as handling, restraining, and administering treatments via different routes.
- Train researchers on commonly used biomethodologies.
- Understand and comply with regulations governing animal use in research, including basics of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols.
- Attend research seminars on diverse topics to broaden your knowledge base.
- Participate in research projects focused on animal welfare.
Qualifications
- Interest in laboratory animal care and welfare.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Quick learner with ability and willingness to learn/understand new concepts.
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college, university or skills program/apprenticeship.
Education
- Currently enrolled in associate or bachelorβs degree program in biological sciences, veterinary technician or animal science program.
