Role: Research Co-op supporting Moderna's Bacterial Immunology team in developing mRNA-based vaccines. Responsibilities: execute and optimize bacterial and immunological assays (e.g., antibody binding, toxin neutralization, complement deposition, opsonophagocytic assays); maintain thorough experimental documentation; analyze and interpret data; learn and apply laboratory techniques. Requirements: enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program in Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Bacteriology, Biology, or related field; hands-on experience with wet lab techniques like pipetting, bacterial culture, aseptic technique; ability to review literature and apply protocols; authorized to work in the US. Preferred: experience with protein detection methods (ELISA, Western blot) or cell characterization (flow cytometry, microscopy); troubleshooting skills; enthusiasm for innovation, collaboration, and scientific curiosity. High-value specifics: focused on vaccine development, bacterial immunology, working within a GxP and biotech research environment, supporting early-stage vaccine assays.
