Role Summary

A six-month co-op role embedded within Biogen's Pharma Site manufacturing team, focusing on both Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) and Antisense Oligonucleotide (ASO) facilities. You will support critical projects centered on continuous improvement and lean six sigma methodologies, and contribute to the startup of new capabilities and equipment. You will collaborate with seasoned professionals to gain insights into upstream and downstream processes and help enhance manufacturing efficiency and capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate daily with the manufacturing team to gain a comprehensive understanding of upstream and downstream processes.
  • Assist in the synthesis of ASOs and subsequent downstream purification.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance facility, process, and scheduling efficiencies.
  • Implement lean six sigma initiatives aimed at optimizing organizational workflows.
  • Support the startup of new equipment and facilities, ensuring seamless integration into existing operations.
  • Develop and execute projects related to the implementation of new capabilities.
  • Engage in troubleshooting to address operational challenges and propose effective solutions.
  • Make impactful contributions that drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
  • Deliver comprehensive end-to-end process descriptions for ASO synthesis and purification.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate on cross-functional tasks.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for process enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Lean six sigma principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college, university or skills program/apprenticeship

Education

  • Science or Engineering-related field; Sophomore year of a four-year degree or higher
