The Clinical Supply Manager is responsible for forecasting, packaging, labeling and distribution of investigational medicinal product to support Vertex clinical studies. This person delivers on independent activities and acts as the primary Supply Chain contact on working teams and with key contract manufacturing/logistics suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of Clinical Supply Chain activities including planning, packaging, labeling, and distribution of Investigational Medicinal Product for multiple projects.
- Acts as primary point of contact with contract manufacturing partners.
- Forecasts supply needs in conjunction with Clinical and CMC colleagues.
- Interacts with Finance to develop budgets and manage costs for clinical supply activities.
- Supports the Supply Chain teamβs development of global supply and procurement strategies including vendor selection.
- Utilizes appropriate software and IT systems to effectively manage key project activities including IWRS and Quality/Document Management Systems.
- Displays proven effectiveness in managing customer expectations and influencing others.
- Work with cross functional team including Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs and QA.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Technical And Communication Skills
- Emerging knowledge across supply chain disciplines (e.g., production planning, clinical supplies, logistics, ERP/MPR systems administration).
- High degree of knowledge on regulations relating to pharmaceutical supply chain activities (cGMP, GCP, import/export, computer systems/Part 11) including possible changes to regulation.
- Superb interpersonal, facilitation, customer relations skills.
- Proven ability to interact effectively and give presentations to senior management.
- Demonstrated adaptability taking on new responsibilities.
- Experience with implementation of IWRS systems.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline.
- Typically requires 4 years of experience working in a pharmaceutical environment and/or in Clinical Supplies, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
