(*in collaboration with AbbVie) About the Role: The Clinical Outsourcing and Contracting Manager is responsible for managing outsourcing and contracting activities in support of clinical research, with a primary focus on clinical trials. This role partners closely with Clinical Research Organizations (CROs) and other vendors to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality execution of clinical programs. As part of the Clinical Medical Contracting Center of Excellence, this position leads the negotiation and administration of a broad range of clinical research agreements. The Manager ensures all contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements, as well as internal policies and procedures. Working cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, Legal, Finance, and study teams, this role drives timely contract execution, effective vendor management, accurate budget oversight, and proactive risk mitigation to support clinical development objectives. _ Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to): Lead and manage Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP) processes across all phases of clinical trials and related services to optimize value and program success Partner with clinical study teams to support vendor selection, coordinate RFPs and bid defenses, and negotiate work orders and change orders Lead and support outsourcing strategies, including supplier selection and ongoing supplier management Negotiate, administer, and execute complex agreements with global service providers, vendors, research collaborators, and clinical trial sites Ensure all contracts comply with regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and company procurement policies Manage the full contract lifecycle from request intake through execution, ensuring alignment with study timelines Review, draft, redline, and negotiate a variety of clinical agreements and templates provided by internal and external stakeholders Identify contractual risks, escalate issues as appropriate, and drive resolution to support timely execution Negotiate favorable terms and budgets, with a focus on cost control, risk mitigation, and prevention of scope creep Partner with Finance and Accounting to review and manage contract budgets and payment terms Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all contract documentation Monitor contract turnaround times and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of contracting, budgeting, and payment processes Perform other duties as assigned Requirements: BS/BA degree in business administration or health care/science related field AND 6+ years of experience in a CRO, Biotech or Pharmaceutical organization. Experience with contract management, negotiation, budgeting and administration including billing/invoicing, issue resolution, point of contact for CRO. OR Master's degree in business administration or health care/science related field AND 4+ years of similar experience noted above Strong knowledge of clinical trial processes, regulations, and industry guidelines Demonstrated experience preparing and negotiating external provider MSAs, work/change orders, and related clinical agreements Ability to read, interpret, and ensure contract language and terms align with company standards Strong contract administration skills, including budgeting, billing/invoicing, issue resolution, and serving as a point of contact for CROs and vendors Knowledge of clinical contract accounting and budgeting processes Solid understanding of drug development and clinical operations Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional organization Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with accuracy and efficiency Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience supporting multiple teams and stakeholders Ability to see the broader organizational impact of contracting decisions across departments and programs Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Smartsheets Demonstrated commitment to process improvement and development of best practices within the functional area #LI-SA Neurocrine Biosciences is an EEO/Disability/Vets employer. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program.
