Position Summary
The Clinical Engineering Technician is responsible for the organization of installation and maintenance of the equipment within the clinical molecular lab.

Job Responsibilities
- Draft preventative maintenance procedures and update existing procedures.
- Attend training on instrumentation (function, basic programming, maintenance, troubleshooting).
- Identify, troubleshoot, and recommend repairs and spare parts.
- Use basic operating systems and applicable software.
- Maintain and expand skills; expand knowledge of medical technologies.
- Work with other departments and participate in quality/service improvement teams.
- Train new technicians on equipment use/operation.
- Coordinate vendor/contractor scheduling for installations, repairs, PM, and trainings.
- Perform initial acceptance inspections and complete required paperwork.
- Perform modifications/upgrades per manufacturer or department leader.
- Perform/coordinate IQ, OQ, PQ, and Function Verifications after installation/repair/PM.
- Compile/analyze/submit acceptance data per criteria.
- Monitor and perform/coordinate departmental equipment cross-correlations.
- Support compliance for routine preventative maintenance.
- Repair/troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment (as appropriate).
- Maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Respond to emergency situations in clinical areas and provide support.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and complete associated paperwork.
- Know applicable safety and electrical limits for healthcare equipment.
- Support department goals and compliance with policies, quality, and safety standards.
- Support compliance with CLIA, NYS, CAP, ISO (as applicable).
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science field.
- 1 year experience repairing and/or troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to explain prior experience.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and quality control procedures/regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a science field.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Interpersonal/team skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet for business use.
- Strong adherence to clinical testing protocols.

- Position requires evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
