General Summary:
The Clinical Development Associate Medical Director serves as Medical Lead for clinical trials, partnering cross-functionally on trial strategy, design, execution, and reporting. Acts as the internal primary Medical Monitor for subject safety and scientific integrity, and may support other clinical development projects.

Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Develop study protocols, Investigator’s Brochures, clinical development plans, and key documents with minimal guidance.
- Serve on cross-functional Study Execution Teams (SET) to ensure efficient, high-quality study execution.
- Support regulatory document preparation (e.g., clinical sections of INDs/CTAs, IND safety reports/annual reports, responses to regulators and Ethics Committees/IRBs).
- Provide scientific/clinical input to informed consents, clinical research forms, statistical analysis plans, clinical pharmacology analysis plans, and clinical study reports.
- Liaison between Clinical Development and internal groups (e.g., Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development Execution).
- Represent Vertex to external medical personnel regarding protocol development, study conduct, and external reporting.

Knowledge And Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication; collaborative in fast-paced matrix environment; independent as appropriate.
- Global clinical research experience and regulatory authority interaction (plus).
- Familiarity with data analysis, biostatistics, pharmacology/pharmacokinetics, GCP, study design, IRB/ethics review, manuscripts/abstracts/posters/oral presentations, overall drug/device clinical development.
- Board certification/eligibility and clinical training in relevant specialty (highly desired).

Education And Experience:
- MD/DO or equivalent ex-US medical degree.
- Typically 8 years of basic or clinical research experience (academic or industry), or equivalent education/experience.

Pay Range: $204,000 - $306,000

Flex Designation: Hybrid-Eligible or On-Site Eligible (Hybrid: remote up to two days/week; On-Site: five days/week on-site with ad hoc flexibility).
