Summary
The Clinical Account Specialist (CAS) is a field-based role responsible for the launch of Ionisโs first wholly owned commercial product within their territory. The CAS drives performance by working with cross-functional partners and external customers to support Ionis goals and help patients in need.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and leverage local healthcare system networks to develop and execute effective business plans.
- Understand unique customer objectives/needs to improve patient outcomes.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration and compliance with Ionis Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.
- Educate HCPs/office staff to raise FCS awareness, educate on the diagnostic pathway, and instill urgency to treat familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS).
- Create a positive prescribing experience using value-added resourcing and HCP/patient support materials and programs.
- Participate in conferences/congresses to educate HCPs on FCS disease state and treatment.
- Gather insights to profile accounts and provide feedback to field leadership/marketing to inform sales and marketing strategy.
- Understand local FCS referral networks and patterns.
- Identify, validate, and document potential FCS-treating HCPs.
- Execute territory strategic account plans; anticipate current/future customer needs; adjust strategies to meet regional business goals.
- Participate in field meetings/training; certify on approved label and compliance/customer engagement policies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams; share learnings; use multiple channels/platforms to engage customers compliantly.
Requirements
- Bachelorโs Degree.
- 5+ years pharma sales experience including: new product launches, account-based selling, HCP/IDN engagement, cross-functional field team coordination, and independent territory management.
- Background in cardiology, endocrinology, and other FCS-relevant sub-specialties.
- Injectable experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the FCS community.
- Established relationships with KOLs and major accounts.
- Ability to analyze market data and develop territory strategies; strong clinical knowledge.

Benefits
- Pay scale: $140,000 to $160,000.
