Clinical Account Specialist (CAS), Newport Beach/Riverside, CA
Summary
- Field-based role responsible for launching Ionisโs first wholly owned commercial product in the assigned territory.
- Drive performance and work with cross-functional partners and external customers to support Ionis goals and help patients in need.
Customer Engagement and Experience
- Educate HCPs and office staff to raise FCS disease state awareness, educate on the diagnostic pathway, and instill urgency to treat familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS).
- Create positive prescribing experiences via value-added resourcing and HCP/patient support materials and programs.
- Participate in conferences/congresses and other scientific meetings to educate HCPs on FCS disease state and treatment.
Market Knowledge
- Gather insights to profile accounts and provide feedback to field leadership and marketing to inform sales and marketing strategy.
- Understand local referral networks (primary/secondary treaters and referral patterns) for FCS patients.
- Identify, validate, and document potential HCPs treating FCS patients to inform commercial strategy.
Account Planning
- Execute brand strategic plans by developing and executing customer-focused territory strategic account plans.
- Build insight-driven tactics by anticipating current/future needs of key customers (hospital and office-based endocrinologists, cardiologists, and other relevant specialties).
- Adjust strategies to meet business goals in the assigned region.
- Develop strategic account plans with field and brand leadership to engage accounts based on customer needs and brand objectives.
Training
- Participate in field meetings and training to understand brand messaging, FCS disease state, and customer engagement tactics.
- Certify on approved label, compliance training, and applicable customer engagement policies.
Teamwork
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure the customer and patient experience meets the highest standards in a compliant manner.
- Share learnings from customer engagement activities with field team members and leadership.
- Use available platforms/technology to engage customers through multiple channels compliantly.
- Partner on accounts with patients seen by multiple specialties across multiple geographies.
Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree.
- 5+ years of pharma sales experience including: new product launches; account-based selling; HCP and IDN engagement; cross-functional field team coordination; independent territory management.
- Background in cardiology, endocrinology, and other sub-specialties that treat FCS patients.
- Injectable experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) community.
- Established relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and major accounts.
- Ability to analyze market data and develop territory strategies.
- Record of navigating complex accounts and aligning solutions with patient needs.
- Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to addressing patient needs.
Benefits
- Pay scale: $140,000 to $160,000.
