Chemical Manufacturing Technician II - Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients

Role: Manufacturing Technician in pharmaceutical chemical API production, responsible for operating equipment to meet production targets. Core duties include following GMP documentation, managing chemical inventories, executing validation activities, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining aseptic and safety protocols. Responsibilities also encompass environmental monitoring, training new staff, and handling hazardous materials using advanced PPE. Requirements: High School diploma or GED with at least 3 years of chemical manufacturing experience or an Associate’s degree with 1+ years in pharma manufacturing; familiarity with SOPs, safety guidelines, and cGMP standards; mechanical aptitude; computer literacy; and ability to read and document technical procedures. Preferred: API experience, knowledge of reactor operations, process safety systems, automation platforms like DeltaV, and experience with chemical reactions, filtration, centrifugation, chromatography, and LOTO procedures. The position reports to site Operations Managers and involves working in a regulated environment with safety and environmental compliance. Work setup: initially day shift (4x10 hours), transitioning to rotating shifts in early 2027; physical requirements include manual handling, working in cold and loud environments, and potential confined space work. The role supports Novo Nordisk's strategic focus on Small Molecule API development and production at their Petersburg, VA site.
