Role: Certified Pathologist Assistant responsible for grossing, histologic sampling, and microscopy support within a diagnostic pathology laboratory focused on anatomic pathology and oncology. Objectives include assisting in specimen dissection, preparing tissue samples, and supporting quality assurance and discrepancy resolution efforts. Responsibilities encompass performing gross dissection, tissue sampling, macroscopic description, photomicrography, and training grossing technicians; managing workflow and ensuring regulatory compliance. Qualifications: ASCP or American Association of Pathologistsβ Assistants certification, minimum one-year relevant experience, Bachelor's in biology or chemical sciences (Master's preferred). Knowledge of pathology procedures, CLIA compliance, and laboratory information systems required. Technical skills include tissue grossing of complex specimens (e.g., mastectomy, colon resection), histology, and image processing; proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience in GI pathology and high-complexity testing standards is advantageous. Environment involves handling biohazards, live human tissues, and chemicals, with physical requirements including lifting, prolonged sitting/standing, and manual dexterity. The role supports high-volume, fast-paced anatomic pathology workflows focusing on oncology, including breast and GI specimens, with potential exposure to extreme conditions and biohazards.
