Role Summary
CD&A - Director of Commercial Forecasting, Obesity. Leads forecasting efforts for Amgen’s Obesity business unit, overseeing a team of full-time Amgen employees and partnering with Commercial leadership to provide strategic guidance and data-backed insights that shape future strategies.
Responsibilities
- Primary point of contact for senior Therapeutic Area leaders to develop data/insight driven short-term and long-term forecasts for brands within the Obesity Unit
- Prepare and present portfolio-level forecast updates for senior leadership
- Facilitate consensus-building among senior collaborators to establish clear, transparent sales expectations for portfolio assets and gain alignment for forecast assumptions
- Identify actionable strategies to improve commercial potential by prioritizing risks and opportunities
- Analyze competitors and market dynamics to inform forecasting models and strategic decisions
- Develop an objective portfolio strategy by integrating insights across products, functions, and capability areas
- Influence leadership on recommended courses of action through effective communication
- Quantify uncertainty using scenario planning and advanced simulation models
- Utilize diverse pharmaceutical data sources and their nuances to enhance forecasting approaches
- Create and deliver presentations that clearly articulate key forecast variables for decision-making partners
- Collaborate with the broader CD&A organization to integrate insights and analytics knowledge into forecast development
- Drive productivity and efficiency by streamlining forecasting processes where possible
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate degree and 4 years of forecasting experience in biopharma/biotechnology/pharmaceutical
- Required: OR Master’s degree and 7 years of forecasting experience in biopharma/biotechnology/pharmaceutical
- Required: OR Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of forecasting experience in biopharma/biotechnology/pharmaceutical
- Preferred: Leadership experience in building and developing teams
- Preferred: Ability to quickly establish credibility with and influence EVP/SVP/VP level staff
- Preferred: Alignment of teams to standard processes and championing innovative methodologies and tools
- Preferred: Business acumen to understand pharmaceutical markets for relevant disease areas
- Preferred: Partnership with business leaders to deliver high-quality predictions guiding decisions
- Preferred: Strong oral, written, and presentation skills to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences

- Forecasting methodologies and statistical analysis

Education
- Doctorate, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in biopharma/biotechnology/pharmaceutical field or related discipline
