Role Summary

Cardiometabolic Care Specialist I – Metairie, Louisiana. Responsible for achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies to effectively promote Novo Nordisk's cardiometabolic portfolio to healthcare professionals and office staff.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competencies on a consistent basis with territory level impact
  • Demonstrates understanding of the local payer market including Medicare, Commercial and Medicaid benefit designs, payer coverage, prescription coverage requirements, step therapy, coverage gaps, copays, and deductibles and their impact on customer decisions
  • Understands territory customer groups and affiliations (IPAs, medical groups, health systems, local clinics) to identify opportunities and tailor approaches
  • Analyzes bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status as applicable
  • Assesses impact of managed care in the territory and adjusts sales/promotion strategies accordingly
  • Develops/utilizes relationships with specialists, hospital decision-makers, and others who influence purchasing/prescribing/formulary decisions
  • Researches, understands, and tailors account plans based on stakeholders and accounts’ business practices
  • Uses knowledge of market conditions, trends, priorities, and patient needs to develop and execute territory business plans
  • Creates plans to gain access and maintain relationships with prescribers, support staff, pharmacies, and clinic administrators to drive business impact
  • Maintains professionalism and customer focus, actively listening and addressing customer/patient needs
  • Collaborates across functions (e.g., Market Access, Specialty Sales) to share knowledge and opportunities
  • Applies the Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model with external customers and during company-sponsored meetings
  • Utilizes strategic planning, pre-call planning, customer engagement, needs uncovering, and solution delivery to drive commitments
  • Evaluates territory opportunities using analytical tools to create plans and gain commitment to use NNI products
  • Communicates with internal stakeholders to implement plans and define roles/responsibilities
  • Manages samples and company property in accordance with policies; manages territory and marketing budgets
  • Understands disease states and treatment options, including knowledge of NNI and competitor products
  • Engages customers with balanced information on clinical studies and appropriate placement in treatment continuum
  • Participates in sales/marketing meetings, training, conventions, and displays as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree; PharmD preferred
  • Minimum one year of experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare, sales, consulting, customer service, or military (preferred)
  • Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel); experience with sales data/call reporting software is ideal
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Aptitude for leadership and decision-making
  • Solid understanding of current therapy areas (diabetes and obesity) and Novo Nordisk products; ability to learn and communicate technical and scientific information
