Role Summary

The Cardiometabolic Care Specialist I is responsible for achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies to effectively sell and promote Novo Nordisk's portfolio of products to healthcare professionals and office staff in the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competencies on a consistent basis with territory level impact
  • Demonstrates understanding of the local payer market including Medicare, Commercial and Medicaid benefit designs, payer coverage, prescription coverage requirements, step therapy, coverage gaps, copays, and deductibles and the impact on customer decisions
  • Demonstrates understanding of territory customer groups and affiliations and uses this to identify business opportunities and tailor approach to customers
  • Analyze bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status, as applicable
  • May analyze impact of managed care in the territory and its effect on prescribing decisions, and modify sales and promotion strategies
  • May develop and utilize relationships with specialists, key hospital decision-makers, and other individuals who influence purchasing/prescribing/formulary decisions
  • Researches, understands and tailors account plans based on stakeholders and accounts’ business practices
  • Utilizes understanding of the territory market to develop and execute territory business plans
  • Develops and implements plans to gain access and maintain business-relevant relationships with customers to drive business impact by collaborating around clinical management of patients and offering NNI-approved solutions
  • Maintains professionalism and a customer-focused approach with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develops internal relationships by collaborating across functions to share knowledge and opportunities
  • Demonstrates proficiency in implementing the Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model with external customers and during company-sponsored meetings

  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to implement plans and define roles
  • Manages samples and company property in accordance with policies; manages budget to support territory goals
  • Demonstrates understanding of disease states and treatment options, including knowledge of NNI and competitor products
  • Engages customers with knowledge of promoted products and disease states during meetings and training

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree, and/or PharmD required
  • Minimum one year of experience in Pharmaceutical/Healthcare, Sales, Consulting, Customer Service or Military preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel); experience with sales data/call reporting software ideal
  • Self-starter with ability to evaluate options and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Aptitude for leadership and decision-making
  • Solid understanding of current therapy areas (diabetes and obesity) and Novo Nordisk’s products; ability to communicate technical and scientific information
