Role Description
Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Supply Chain Capacity Planner manages capacity planning for manufacturing and packaging at the Zoetis Kalamazoo Global Manufacturing and Supply site. This role ensures accurate cycle times, batch sizes, and capacity improvements, develops capacity models and action plans, and optimizes capacity utilization to meet customer demands efficiently.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain capacity plans for packaging and manufacturing work centers, equipment, and labor to support demand and site strategy.
- Collaborate with Value Stream, Engineering, Supply Chain and Network Strategy to balance capacity against demand forecasts.
- Analyze constraints and bottlenecks in operations and recommend data driven solutions to optimize capacity utilization.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to capacity utilization, throughput, and production efficiency. Using these KPIs, identify risks and opportunities for improvement and assist in scenario planning and impact analysis.
- Support new product introductions and changes in production volume by adjusting capacity plans accordingly.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance capacity planning processes and tools, as well as other Supply Chain projects as required.
- Generate capacity utilization reports after each quarterly volume review.
- Generate and update long-range capacity outlooks two times/year with identified constraints and action plans.
- Present monthly capacity outlooks vs. latest site forecast and long-range forecast.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills Requirements
- Strong knowledge of supply chain and capacity planning concepts, especially within pharmaceutical or animal health manufacturing.
- Experience with capacity balancing, resource planning, forecasting and production scheduling.
- Proficient in SAP or similar ERP systems for capacity and production. Proficiency with SAP IBP and SAP S/4 Hana preferred.
- Ability to analyze complex data and generate actionable insights.
- Familiarity with GMP regulations and compliance in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Experience with KPI development and reporting tools for capacity and production metrics.
- Highly Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Java, and JavaScript) and database management systems (SQL) preferred.
- Power BI development preferred.
Education and Experience
- BA/BS in Analytics, Coding, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in capacity planning or engineering within pharmaceutical or animal health manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver presentations to leadership.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with mindfulness.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Preferred certifications: APICS CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- The work environment includes both office and manufacturing settings.
- Approximately 75% office-based and 25% walking/standing in manufacturing areas.
- May require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing as per GMP standards.
- Potential for limited domestic and/or international travel up to 5%.
