Job Purpose:
Business Operations Director (independent contributor) partnering with business and senior leaders to drive operational excellence and deliver the functionโs strategy. Improves performance through efficient processes, accelerates priority initiatives, and leads key operational projects across VIDRU (Vaccines and Infectious Disease Research) and the wider R&D organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Leadership Team (LT): plan, facilitate, and participate in LT meetings; provide thought partnership and respectful challenge.
- Strategic planning: develop, execute, and monitor team objectives and strategies; translate plans into measurable impact.
- Performance: implement frameworks to monitor business performance using data/enterprise solutions; drive continuous improvement.
- Resource & risk: facilitate risk management meetings and escalate risks to VIDRU RDLT as needed.
- Operational oversight: ensure effective leadership team operations, aligned priorities, and quality outcomes.
- Project leadership: lead complex projects end-to-end.
- Stakeholder engagement: network across VIDRU and other R&D functions to maximize alignment across teams/sites.
- Data-driven decisions: leverage data/technology (incl. AI) for insights and operational excellence.
- Problem-solving/adaptability in ambiguous environments.
- (If applicable) Site management support for site-specific initiatives aligned to GSK goals.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree (or equivalent) + minimum 7 years vaccines/pharmaceutical experience.
- 3+ years business operations experience supporting a senior leadership team in vaccine/drug development.
- 3+ years project leadership/management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or PhD in Life Sciences; change management experience (VP+).
- Data analytics to drive performance; strong leadership and learning agility.
- Matrixed team management; cross-functional global project/team experience.
Compensation/Benefits (if based in listed US locations):
Annual base salary $170,775โ$284,625; annual bonus; share-based long-term incentive eligibility; health insurance, retirement, paid holidays/vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
