About the Role (Internal title: Senior Expert I/II, Data Science; Location: Cambridge, MA, onsite)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide computational, bioinformatic, and statistical support for research and early discovery of RNA therapeutics and RNA platform innovation.
- Provide bioinformatics support to xRNA pipeline/technology projects by collecting, analyzing, integrating in-silico parameters, and screening/omics data to draw conclusions.
- Independently design, plan, execute, document, interpret, and report complex data analyses to drive decisions and set priorities.
- Stay current on field advances and influence introduction of novel/state-of-the-art computational techniques.
- Collaborate in a matrix environment to address project needs and adapt to new technologies.
- Develop user-friendly applications to make RNA data accessible to bench scientists.
- Communicate analyses to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Lead or support development of innovative bioinformatics solutions with impact on next-generation xRNA therapeutics biology/platform.
Essential Requirements:
- PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/Cheminformatics (or closely related) plus 2+ years post-grad experience, or MS plus 6+ years relevant experience (preferably industry).
- Experience with next-generation sequencing (Illumina short reads and/or PacBio/Oxford Nanopore long reads) and common analysis tools; ability to develop new pipelines/workflows.
- Strong knowledge in molecular biology, computational genomics, and transcription/post-transcription gene regulation; RNA biology experience; oligonucleotide therapeutics discovery and/or gene therapy experience highly desired.
- Machine learning for predictive modeling.
- Proficiency in Python and R; scientific computing with Unix/HPC; software development practices (version control, testing, documentation).
- Strong oral/written communication; ability to multitask.
- Experience integrating/analyzing/visualizing multi-omics and high-throughput screening data; troubleshooting.
- Ability to monitor sequencing/genomics developments and propose workflow improvements.
Desired Requirements:
- Oligonucleotide chemistry knowledge and RNA structure modeling.
- Experience in lab automation and data management.
