Role: Biobank Scientist responsible for maintaining and managing human biological sample (HBS) inventory in compliance with global standards, GCP, and SOPs. Primary objectives include ensuring traceable, compliant sample receipt, handling, processing, storage, and dispatch; leading histology activities; and driving process and IT improvements. Responsibilities encompass sample registration, workflow management, histology procedures (microtomy, staining, slide scanning), troubleshooting, training, and stakeholder communication, including external vendors. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with 5+ years or a Master’s with 2+ years of relevant biobanking, histology, and laboratory experience; proficiency in histology techniques, IT systems (e.g., LIMS), and data analysis; strong attention to detail and communication skills. Preferred: experience managing complex projects, clinical lab work, archiving, automation tools, and histopathology. High-value specifics include biobanking of HBS for clinical research, histology and immunohistochemistry support, and process improvement within a regulated environment. The role involves collaboration with internal science teams and external partners; occasional out-of-hours work may be required. Location: Gaithersburg, MD, USA.
