Principal Automation Integration Engineer – API Network Integration
Responsibilities:
- Enable information and data flow between Manufacturing Science, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations using IT and Process Automation technologies.
- Support innovation evaluation and application for Manufacturing Process Automation and IT Systems (data historians, advanced analytics, cyber security, and process optimization).
- Integrate data supporting major capital projects across sites/projects in the API Network, including process automation platforms, HMI/SCADA, Data Historians, Alarm/Event management, and Manufacturing Execution systems.
- Provide project management and technical leadership for central automation system platform delivery for major capital projects at new and existing manufacturing sites.
- Develop and maintain an integrated project schedule connecting key milestones across workstreams/systems.
- Develop robust, innovative system integration solutions that enable manufacturing engineers to use data for improvement decisions and advanced analytics.
- Ensure automation integration requirements are delivered and tested, including timing/dependencies in the overall project schedule.
- Escalate key issues/barriers through the project leadership team for resolution.
- Facilitate regularly scheduled system delivery meetings (coordination/working sessions and project status updates).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g., ChemE, ME, EE, CS, IE, etc.).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in process automation engineering and data integration (data historians, data analytics, visualization, MES integration, enterprise-level applications, and security).
- Prior project management and technical leadership experience on large projects (preferably $2–3M+).
- Authorization to work in the United States full-time (Lilly does not sponsor visas).
Preferred/Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of system integration, data integration, databases, enterprise systems, historian, and manufacturing execution systems.
- Core knowledge of ISA-95 and ISA-88 principles.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management.
- Ability to work well with different cultures.
- Experience in pharma or GMP industry; working with validated systems.
- Expertise with preferred platforms: Rockwell Automation, Emerson DeltaV, PMX/PharmaSuite, and Sy… (Sin…cade/Syncade).
- Experience with OSI PI Data Historians.
Other Information:
- Monday through Friday, day shift 7:30am–4:30pm (flexibility allowed).
- Location: Indianapolis, IN.
- Travel: Domestic and international travel required (generally 20%; up to 80% during commissioning or short-term relocations).
