Role Summary

Automation Engineer to support Protein Expression Sciences, managing automated equipment for VelociMab antibody discovery and production cell line development. Role involves cutting-edge automation technologies, requiring strong problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and troubleshoot automation methods for standalone and integrated systems (e.g., Hamilton Robotics, Dynamic devices, HighRes Biosolutions).
  • Coordinate testing and deployment of new automation methods with scientists.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automated systems and existing methods.
  • Train new users, create SOPs, and provide ongoing technical support.
  • Oversee maintenance and preventative maintenance on all automated equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate automation-related issues to stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper storage of samples in the automated biobank and oversee biobank maintenance and management.
  • Contribute innovative solutions to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve throughput and data quality.
  • Collaborate with scientists to identify unmet needs and develop new automation solutions.

Qualifications

  • Required: B.S. or M.S. in Science or Engineering with 3+ years of automation experience.
  • Required: Direct experience programming liquid handlers (e.g., Hamilton STAR/Vantage or Dynamic Devices Lynx).
  • Preferred: Experience with scheduling software (e.g., Cellario or Green Button Go).
  • Preferred: Familiarity with LIMS/Benchling integration with automated platforms; programming languages such as C# or Python.
