Role Summary
Automation Engineer II - Chemical API development and production at Novo Nordisk in Petersburg, Virginia. Works with local and global project teams to ensure process and equipment designs comply with local and global standards, and to improve reliability of process control systems to meet regulatory requirements. Serves as SME for process control systems, supports audits, and facilitates training and change management. Open to hiring at a more senior level commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Work with local and global project teams to ensure process design complies with local and global standards
- Develop interface agreements and align requirements with equipment vendors
- Develop and implement plans to maintain and improve process control systems
- Schedule and execute plans in coordination with manufacturing schedules
- Assist with developing and managing expense budgets for maintaining and improving process control systems
- Develop and maintain automation standards, specifications, and maintenance plans
- Own self development and initiative to understand the site process control systems
- Support audits and inspections as SME for process control systems
- Coach and train colleagues and stakeholders in relevant areas
- Utilize appropriate cLEAN tools within Systematic Problem Solving, process improvement, and project management
- Operate with a quality mindset focusing on risk management and mitigation
- Implement effective change management
- Support Corporate, PS, local IT, and local stakeholder initiatives and projects
- Participate in the development of new SOPs, best practices, and maintenance procedures
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Other accountabilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering/related field from an accredited university required
- Minimum of five (5) years engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, and/or packaging systems required
- May consider an Associateβs degree with a minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, and/or packaging systems
- May consider a High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of nine (9) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, and/or packaging systems
- Ability to demonstrate proven expertise in planning, organization, and project execution
- Knowledgeable in SAP EM, PLC, DCS/SCADA, MES, Oracle, MS SQL databases, Historian; general controls experience a plus; SAP EWM a plus
- Ability to translate high-level direction into actionable tasks using cLEAN / Six Sigma methodologies is a plus
