Role: Automation Engineer in a biopharma setting, focused on deployment, optimization, and support of automated lab systems including workcells, liquid handlers, and analyzers. Objectives: enhance lab automation efficiency, troubleshoot complex systems, support capacity expansion, and improve workflows. Responsibilities: independently manage medium-complexity automation projects, perform troubleshooting, document work per SOPs, support qualification activities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects like platform upgrades and assay verification. Qualifications: Bachelor's in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field; 2–5 years of laboratory automation experience, with strong troubleshooting and development skills. Skills: proficiency in lab automation control and scheduling software, familiarity with sequencing and lab instrumentation, knowledge of GDP, and ability to manage multiple projects. Preferred: experience with NGS, programming liquid handlers (e.g., Tecan, Hamilton), supporting validation activities, working with LIMS, and understanding of regulatory standards such as 21 CFR Part 11, FDA, and CLIA. High-Value: focus on automated workflows in clinical or diagnostic labs, with involvement in capacity expansion, validation, and regulatory compliance. Location: Austin, TX, with travel support within local sites.
