Responsibilities:
- Provide automation expertise for small-to-medium projects (continuous improvement, retrofit, and capital investments) to optimize manufacturing and supporting operations.
- Design, architect, troubleshoot, and deliver automation system enhancements.
- Develop innovative automation solutions across automation systems, data historians, and IoT devices with a focus on Digital 4.0.
- Maintain automation systems and provide technical support to ensure availability across multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Lead automation projects; manage contractors for staff augmentation/project roles.
- Escalate issues to senior management and cross-functional support teams; partner with Manufacturing and Quality to meet production schedules.
- Mentor junior automation engineers.
- Provide solutions to process automation design challenges; ensure process equipment automation availability.
- Manage medium-to-large projects including controls, approvals, and validation requirements.
- Integrate data/systems from analytical, skid, and process/building control systems; develop robust, minimal-downtime, data-integrity solutions.
- Lead development of automation standards.
- Ensure training compliance, inspection readiness, closure of investigations/deviations and CAPAs, and inspection-ready automation documentation.
- Participate in external regulator inspections; comply with Health & Safety/OSHA requirements.
- Drive troubleshooting and continuous improvement with inter-department teams (e.g., Kaizens, Kanban, 5S, VSM).

Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelorโ€™s in Engineering/Science/technology + 5+ years; or Masterโ€™s + 3+ years.
- Hands-on programming experience with real-time manufacturing automation/control systems (DeltaV, PLCs, PI, Werum PAS-X, etc.).
- Hands-on DeltaV troubleshooting/root cause analysis and support.
- Knowledge of bus technologies and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of control system validation requirements in CGMP and/or ASTM environments.
- Experience with computerized systems (Ignition, Werum PAS-X, PI, etc.) and SCADA/PLC systems (Rockwell FactoryTalk/RSLogix, Honeywell).
- Understanding of network infrastructure; systems/network/validation experience preferred in process industries.
- Ability to establish safe practices in a cGMP environment.
- Proficient with Windows, VBA, and MS Office; strong technical/analytical problem-solving.
- Experience delivering Digital 4.0-based solutions; SaaS and IoT/edge device experience preferred.

Special Working Conditions:
- Rotating on-call 24/7 manufacturing operations support.
- Industrial manufacturing environment including gowning.
