POSITION SUMMARY
The Automation & Digitalization Engineer is the site execution owner for day-to-day delivery of the digitalization and automation roadmap under the Head of Automation. Develops, deploys, and sustains machine/process control software and industrial data flows to improve safety, quality, throughput, and equipment uptime.

Responsibilities
- Develop, configure, and debug PLC programs, HMIs, and robot controller code (as applicable); align to site standards.
- Own code lifecycle: backups, versioning, release notes, validation steps, and controlled deployment/startup.
- Standardize HMIs/interface usability across equipment.
- Integrate/validate sensors, actuators, electrically controlled pneumatics, conveyors, and robotic interfaces; diagnose I/O/device/network issues.
- Implement robotics solutions across 6-axis, cobots, SCARA, delta, and AMRs (Omron/ABB/FANUC as needed); support EOAT/mechanical integration.
- Execute commissioning plans; participate in equipment runoff; verify safety interlocks, alarms, and HMI usability.
- Document test results, manage controls punch-list, coordinate closure with OEMs/system integrators; own/co-own end-to-end controls delivery.
- Provide on-call troubleshooting; lead/support root-cause problem solving (e.g., 5-Why/fishbone) to reduce repeat downtime.
- Enable machine data capture/tagging; support industrial networking, connectivity debugging, and data quality.
- Support digitalization initiatives such as SQL/database tracking (e.g., OEE) and scripting (SQL, Visual Basic, Python) as needed.

Qualifications
- BS (EE/CE/CS/Mechatronics or related) or equivalent practical controls experience; Bachelor’s +5 years or EE degree +10 years.
- Hands-on industrial automation/controls commissioning and sustaining; safe delivery of controls changes into production.
- Preferred OEM/system integrator experience including FAT/SAT and on-floor support.

Technical Skills (required/preferred)
- Must: PLC programming/troubleshooting (Omron Sysmac).
- PLC programming/troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley RSLogix/Studio 5000); IEC 61131 familiarity beneficial.
- HMI development/debugging (Omron NA, PanelView, Ignition or similar).
- Ability to integrate/troubleshoot sensors, motion/conveyance controls, electrically controlled pneumatics, and safety-related control interfaces.
- Industrial networking fundamentals (e.g., Ethernet/IP).
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, change control, and cross-functional communication.
- Robotics experience delivering palletizing/conveying/line integration strongly beneficial.

Benefits/Compensation
- US base salary range: $77,000–$118,000; eligible for short-term incentive compensation; healthcare from day one, 401(k) match/profit-sharing, and 4 weeks vacation.

Physical Requirements
- Office and manufacturing work; access all areas, lift up to 50 lbs; occasional off-shift/weekend work for commissioning/outages.
