Role Summary

Associate Vice President, Commercial Operations is responsible for developing and deploying operational support for the commercial organization to positively impact field activity and business performance. The role partners with commercial teams, leads a dedicated support team, and drives data-driven, customer-centric growth across regional and local markets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the commercial operations strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Lead an effective and unified commercial operations team (Sales & Marketing Operations including Incentive Compensation, Training and Development, and Data & Customer Master Management).
  • Maintain subject matter expertise within Commercial for disease states, products, and therapeutic areas aligned with Harmony’s portfolio and account management strategy.
  • Develop and leverage a framework for strategic/tactical business planning for different parts of the commercial and brand teams.
  • Strategic thinking beyond own function; align with overall business objectives and company strategy.
  • Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration and transparency within and outside the Commercial organization.
  • Responsible for management control policy and ensure excellence in communication and deployment of key sales initiatives; oversee programs.
  • Ensure robust, effective, and secure management of commercial data and systems to support the business.
  • Manage the design, implementation, and execution of incentive compensation programs and incentive contests.
  • Manage the design and implementation of sales training content, materials, and activities for field sales, field reimbursement managers, and remote territory managers.
  • Ensure commercial operations systems support compliant use of sales and marketing resources available to the field.
  • Institute processes for data and reporting governance of ad-hoc field inquiries from the executive team and other Commercial functions.
  • Manage the Commercial Operations budget and allocate resources effectively across functions to maximize impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years in the pharmaceutical industry with at least 10+ years in a commercial operations function, and 7+ years leading a commercial operations team
  • Deep understanding of field-based team strategy, performance analytics, sales force optimization, customer targeting/segmentation and call plan development; CRM, data management, and customer master management experience required
  • Strategic mindset with proven ability to enhance processes for greater efficiency
  • Experience using quantitative techniques and statistical analyses to support the business
  • Ability to lead in a dynamic, multi-disciplined team environment to achieve goals
